WINONA and formerly from RURAL UTICAFrancis Louis Ploetz, 78, of Callista Court in Winona and formerly of rural Utica, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Winona Health.Francis was born September 11, 1935 in Winona to Jesse and Beatrice (Heim) Ploetz. Francis married Greta Shea on November 28, 1958 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview. They made their home in rural Utica and farmed together for many years. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on April 21, 1963 after serving his country during the Berlin Crisis.He is survived by three sons, Maurice (Judy) Ploetz of St. Charles, Scott Ploetz of Winona, and Jeff (Stacey) Ploetz of Pickwick; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanne (Leland) Ferden; and sister-in-law, Marlene Ploetz. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Greta Ploetz; and brother, Lee Ploetz.A Funeral Mass for Francis will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Reverend Kurt Farrell officiating. Private family graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
