Francis "Fritz" William Hoffman, 93 of Rollingstone, died Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Sauer Healthcare after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Fritz was born June 24, 1926 in Rollingstone to Joseph and Josephine (Kalmes) Hoffman. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1944 and attended Business College in Winona. On May 7, 1952, he married Theresa (Speltz) Hoffman at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He worked at the Knitting Mills for 2 years before purchasing the Rollingstone Lumber Yard which he owned for 20 years. He eventually sold to Kendell O'Brien but continued to work for them for 40 years, retiring at the age of 83.
Fritz enjoyed golfing and bowling with his best friends, Jim & Rose Kreidermacher. He also enjoyed watching the birds and cheering on his favorite sports teams, The Vikings and Twins. Fritz was involved in the Lions Club for over 30 years, Rollingstone Luxemburg Museum Board, and member of the Rollingstone Business Association. He was a lifelong active member and leader of Holy Trinity Catholic Church as well as St. Theresa & St. Nicholas Society. Fritz was the Person of Hope for Alzheimer's in 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Theresa; children, Roxanne (Michael) Gibneski, Gayle (Donald) McRae, Geri (Duane) Lehnertz, Sue (Thomas) Ryan, Thomas (Cecilia) Hoffman, Patrick Hoffman, Jane (Jim) Hentges and Michael (Julie) Hoffman; daughter-in-law, Donna Hoffman; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bob; brother, Jim (Jeanne); sister, Delores and daughter-in-law, Glynis Hoffman.
Fritz's family would like to thank Sauer Health Care and staff for all of their loving care and support these past 3 years. Fritz was a legend to the Town of Rollingstone and will be greatly missed by all.
Please join us for a Celebration of Fritz's life with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. There will be no visitation prior to Mass. The family will greet friends, following Mass, at a luncheon from 12:30 - 2 p.m., at the Rollingstone City Park. In case of rain, the lunch will be at the Rollingstone Community Center. Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
