Frances Hander

St. Charles, Frances E. Hander, 90, of St. Charles died Saturday December 13, 2003 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. She was born October 9, 1913 in rural Dover to Henry and Anna (Eden) Hunfeld. Frances and Tom Hander were married September 27, 1938 at St. Charles. They farmed north of Dover until 1965, when they moved to rural St. Charles. Tom died May 30, 1984. Frances moved in to St. Charles in 1994 and to St. Charles Assisted Living in October of 2002. She moved in to Whitewater Healthcare Center in November. Frances was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She loved to cook and garden. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo and embroidering. Survivors include her four children, Dorothy (Richard) Myhre of Stewartville; Darrell (Judy) Hander of St. Charles; David (Carol) Hander of Mazeppa and Mary (Roger) Burt of Utica, 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Tom, a brother and two grandchildren have also died. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Chatfield. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday and one hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be a Rosary recited at 5:15 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
