Florian "Flip" Meredith Cairns, 77, of Winona and formerly from Houston, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.Flip was born in Houston on March 28, 1935 to C. Fredrick and Manda (Furuseth) Benson. She graduated from Houston High School and attended the Minnesota Business School in Minneapolis. She managed the Houston Liquor Store in 1977, and later became proprietor of Flip's Bar in Ridgeway from 1978-1990. Flip was also employed as a Mixologist at other local establishments. Above all, she was a mother, grandmother, and friend to not only her family, but to many others as well. In addition, she was an avid sports fan of the Vikings, Twins, and all the teams she sponsored, particularly her beloved Ridgeway "orange" and "green" teams. She is survived by her children, Terrie Parpart, Tim (Renee) Buckland, Tom (Shanna) Buckland, Tracy Buckland, and Tony Buckland; brother, John (Harla) Benson; grandchildren, Tiana (Freddie), Tim Jr., Curtis, Shanda, Shawn, Dylan, Alexa, Christopher, Jonathan, Brianna, Weston, Carley, Hunter, Amanda, and Brandi; great-grandson, Ryder. Those preceding her in death include her parents, aunts, and uncles, especially her "Uncle Martin."A gathering of friends and family will take place from 11am-3pm on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Hoff Funeral & Celebration Service-Hansen Goodview Chapel. A celebration of Flip's life, along with a time of sharing, will be held at 3pm at the funeral home, led by funeral celebrant, Jenny Hoff. Per Flip's wishes, please dress casually; jeans are encouraged.
