Utica, Florence S. Cullen, 84, of rural Utica died Thursday May 27th at her home. Florence was born January 26, 1920 in Plymouth, Iowa to Aloysius and Johanna (Kellen) Staab. She graduated from High School in Cleghorn, Iowa. Florence and John J. Cullen were married January 20, 1941 in Essex, Maryland. The lived in Baltimore, Maryland where there four oldest children were born. In 1954 they moved to Minnesota, where their three youngest children were born. They made their home in Claremont until moving to Utica to farm in 1957. Florence was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston. She sang in the church choir as well as being involved in other parish activities and had been Utica Township Treasurer for many years. Survivors include her husband John, three sons, Edward L. Cullen of Arlington Heights, Ill; Robert J. Cullen of Clairmont, CA; and Richard J. Cullen of Rosemont, MN, four daughters, Rose M. Cullen of Boca Rotan, FL; Patricia F. Cullen of St. Paul; Cynthia D. Cullen-Malek of New Jersey; and Catherine S. Cullen of New York, NY, seven grandchildren, a brother Merlin Staab of Reed, Missouri and a sister Luella Smith of Daytona, Beach, FL. Two brothers Andrew and Clarence Staab have preceded her in death. There will be a Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston with the Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? Lewiston Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church. A prayer service will be at 7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
