Florence Bublitz

September 3, 1918 — July 10, 2011

Florence Minnie Hattie (Steinfeldt) Bublitz, 92, of Winona died Sunday, July 10 at Winona Health.Florence was born to Ernest and Anna (Larson) Steinfeldt on September 3, 1918 at their home on Nelson Ridge, near Ridgeway. Florence was a farmer's daughter and shared her love of the family farm with all of us. She married Russell Bublitz on February 16, 1943; they had their first little girl in the city of St. Paul and then moved their family to a farm in Ridgeway. They were married for 66 years until Russell died in 2009.Florence was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran church in Pickwick from the time the doors opened in 1937. She was active in Ladies Aide and was a staple member of her church. This year she was a 50 year member of TOPS and she reached her goal! She kept a "well flowered" farm in Ridgeway until her and Russell moved to Winona in 2000. Her sunny disposition shined through at every turn in the road. We could always count on her to remedy things from a loose tooth, a cake that fell, a nissy that wouldn't drink, a hole that needed stitching and heart that needed mending. Her love for the Lord was strong and true and we thank her for bringing us to Him. She spent her retirement years embroidering and feeding everyone who stopped in, even the mailman. She left us with a smile knowing that she is now where the flowers will always bloom and she can dance a "jig". She may have been the "short one", but she left a huge foot-print. Russell will now again be able to sing to her "You Are My Sunshine".Florence is survived by her daughters, Darleen (Frank) Brand of Lake City, Joan (Jerrold) Zenke of Nodine; son, John Bublitz of Winona; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, daughter Dianne "Ole" in 2006, daughter, June "Jo" in 2008 and all of her brothers and sisters: Elnora, Dorothy, Paul, Emil, Rolland, Edward, Harold, Leroy and Victor.Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeff Brand, Pat Ebert, Bill Bublitz, Garth Zenke, Rhett Zenke, John Bublitz, Jr., Luke Fuchsel, John Fletcher, Brad Haagenson and Aaron Spitzer.Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 13 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Pickwick with the Reverend James Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Pickwick Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Hansen Goodview Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Please share a memory of Florence in her online guestbook and view her video tribute when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com.
