Dover, Everett John "Ev" Mayer, 67 of Dover, died Tuesday morning June 7th at his home in Dover with his family at his side. Ev was born January 12, 1944 in Dover Township to John and Betty (Amos) Mayer. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1962. Ev and Kay Biehn were married on May 13, 1967 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota. They made their home in Dover. He worked for Dover Ready Mix before attending Winona Vo-Tech to receive certification in auto body repair. Ev then worked for Rehm's Auto Body in Rochester. He later opened Ev's Body Shop in Dover, where he worked for 37 years before retiring. Ev served in the Army National Guard when he was younger. He belonged to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota, served on the Dover Volunteer Fire Department, Dover City Council, Little Valley Cemetery Board and belonged to St. Charles Moose Lodge. Ev enjoyed deer hunting, fishing trips with his family to Lake Kabetogama, snowmobiling, gardening, trips to Treasure Island and going to his granddaughter's ballgames. Survivors include his wife Kay, two children, Tim (Stacy) Mayer of Dover and Jody (Cory) Johnson of Farmington, three granddaughters; Brittni, Briana and Brooke Mayer, a sister Karen (Gerald) Hasse of Northfield, two sisters-in-law Linda Mayer and Gwen Mayer and his two grand-dogs, Peanut and Bauer. Ev was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Rob and Clayt. A Funeral Service will be 1PM Friday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Little Valley Cemetery north of Dover with a reception following at the funeral home.
