Everett John Grant

Dover, Everett John Grant, 76, of rural Dover, died Monday May 26, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Everett was born February 25, 1932 in Winona County to William and Mildred (Herman) Grant. He lived with his family near Clyde and Saratoga before his family moved to rural Dover in 1944. Everett served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 1st Class during the Korean War, stationed in Maine and Japan. He and Ardie McDougall were married November 15, 1966 at Elmira Church near Dover. They farmed the Grant family farm. Everett also managed the Dover Ready Mix plant for 38 years. Currently he was driving truck for area farmers. He was a member of the St. Charles American Legion Post #190, having served as Post Commander for 2 years, Sergeant-at-Arms, Honor Guard and an active member of the Firing Squad. He also belonged to the Korean War Veterans group. Survivors include his wife, Ardie, four children; Kathy (Brian) Martin of Dover, Michael (Janelle) Grant of Dover, Sue Grant of Rochester and Peggy (John) Plaisted of Dallas, TX, two granddaughters, Emily and Allison and a brother James Grant of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be 3PM Friday at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with Reverend Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Dover, with Military Graveside Honors conducted by St. Charles American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War Posts. Friends may call from 4-8PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Friday.
