Evelyn Alma (Roth) Hilke, age 91, went to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, May 18, 2017, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona.
Evelyn was born July 8, 1925, in Utica, MN, to George and Della (Rupprecht) Roth. She graduated from St. Charles High School in1942. She continued her education in St. Charles by receiving her Normal Teacher Training Certificate in 1943. She taught at a one room school in Utica and then taught in Altura before marrying Leslie Hilke, September 4, 1946. After marriage she was an active farm wife with Leslie on the fourth generation Hilke Family Dairy Farm, helping with the farm work, growing a garden, managing the house and raising a family. She loved raising healthy baby calves. Evelyn was an avid crossword enthusiast. Her gifts of hand-embroidered dish towels will leave lasting, loving memories.
Evelyn was committed to her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn was an active member of Our Savior's Moravian Church, Altura, serving as a Sunday School teacher and being involved in various women's groups through the years.
Survivors include her daughter, June (Henry) Radintz, Orono, MN, and son, Bruce (fiancée, Sue Thompson), Altura, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, a son, John, John's wife, Wendy and an infant daughter, Jean Renee.
To honor Evelyn's request, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Evelyn Hilke Memorial Fund.
