Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - Houston 507-896-3127Eva Olive Wright passed away peacefully June 11, 2012 at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab in Houston, Minnesota.Eva Olive Loken was born on September 23, 1918 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, to George and Minnie (Johnson) Loken.Eva was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers: Helmer (1904-1916), Oran (1905-1999), Art (1907-1980), Oliver (1915-2001), and Roy (1917-1943), and by 2 sisters: Grace (1909-1965) and Amelia (1911- 2005 ), her husband, Elmer (1919-1994), and her daughter Angel(1961-2002).After graduating from Houston High School in 1936, Eva attended Lawrence Academy of Beauty Culture in Minneapolis MN where she earned a Master of Science in Cosmetology in 1937. After a short apprenticeship, Eva opened her own beauty shop in Hokah, shared initially with her sister, Grace. Eva later moved her shop to Houston.While living in Houston, she met Elmer Wright and they were married on November 11, 1950. Eva and Elmer worshiped, taught Sunday School, and served in other capacities, at Money Creek United Methodist Church from the early 1950's into the 1970's, and then joined the Houston Baptist Church until Elmer retired from Ace Telephone where he worked for 28 years. Eva and Elmer participated in Dale Carnegie Training, were both ambulance drivers and first responders with the Houston Volunteer Fire Department. Eva was a regular attender of the LaCrosse Area Christian Business and Professional Women's Association. Eva enjoyed family camping and traveling around the nation sightseeing and visiting relatives. She had traveled in 49 states during her lifetime (not Hawaii). Eva and Elmer and their family vigorously enjoyed the annual Red Rock Campmeeting at Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds during their entire married life. Another highlight of their life together was a trip to the Holy Land (Israel). In 1981, Eva and Elmer moved to Rochester MN, they spent their winter months in Mission, Texas, until Elmer died suddenly in 1994. Eva continued to live in Rochester before moving back to Houston in 2003. Eva is survived by her children; Ronald Allen (Diane) Wright, Anthony Roy (Arlene) Wright, and Sherri Lin (Tim) Sheldon, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and step children Terry (John) Leuck and Michael (Charlotte) Wright, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Houston Baptist Church, Houston MN. Visitation begins at 9:30AM followed by the celebration of Eva's life at 11AM. Burial will be in Money Creek Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Houston Baptist Church or the Red Rock Camp Scholarship Fund. The cremated remains of Eva's daughter, Angel Rae Wright will be memorialized and buried next to her mother.
