Esther Lange

Winona, Esther W. Lange, 81 of Winona and formerly of Altura died Thursday evening October 9th at Winona Community Memorial Hospital. Esther was born April 27, 1922 in Oronoco to Henry and Catherine (Heitman) Wittlief and grew up on the family farm at Oronoco. She and Howard Lange were married on June 4, 1948. They made their home in Grand Meadow until moving to rural Altura in 1959. The couple farmed and raised their family north of Altura. Howard died June 19, 1991, she later moved to Winona. Esther was a member of Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, quilting and fishing. Survivors include five children, Barbara (Wayne) Christenson of Rochester; Don Lange of Pepin, WI; Marsha (Dan) Harbin of La Crosse; Ken (Shelley) Lange of Rollingstone and LuAnn (Kevin) Lafky of Medford, 12 grandchildren and a sister Lydia (Carl) Culver of Oronoco. In addition to her husband Howard four brothers; Ben, Alex, John and Edwin have died. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Monday at Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura with the Rev. Michael Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5-8 PM Sunday and one hour before services Monday. Hoff Funeral Home's ?
