Estelle "Lorraine" Prestemon Kjos, 93, of Rushford died Friday morning, October 13th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. Lorraine was born December 1, 1923 in Bagley, MN to Emil and Lida Prestemon.
Following her graduation from Bagley High School in 1941, she pursued a degree in Education from Bemidji State Teacher's College. Later, she completed a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota. She taught in Benson, Thief River Falls, Austin, and Edina MN. She spent most of her career as an Elementary School Librarian.
Lorraine often said, "A blind date made a great pair out of a farmer and a librarian". Lorraine and Granville B. Kjos were married March 23, 1974 in Richfield MN. They farmed near Arendahl until moving in to a townhome in Rushford in 2007.
Lorraine was a member of Arendahl Lutheran Church and was active in their Ladies Groups. She and Granville enjoyed Son's of Norway activities.
Survivors include a nephew Miles & Chryl Prestemon of Oak Point, TX, grand-nieces and nephews Neely Shirey, Megan Sandy, Claire Prestemon, Trent Prestemon and Blake Prestemon, and cousins; Jacky Swenson of Rochester five other cousins. Lorraine was preceded in death by Granville in 2011, a brother Milt Prestemon in 2005 and nephew Lee Prestemon in 2000.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 20th at Arendahl Lutheran Church with the Reverend Sarah Walker Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hoff Funeral Service in Rushford. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
