LANESBORO, MINN. - Erlyn T. Johnson, 92, of rural Lanesboro died Friday, December 31, 2004 at the Valley View Nursing Homing Home in Houston, Minn. Erlyn was born on May 31, 1912, on the family farm in rural Lanesboro where he lived for 91 years. He was baptized and confirmed at first Lutheran Church of Highland where he remained a lifelong member. On April 12, 1941 he married Luella Flattum at Peterson, Minn. She preceded him in death in 1984. Erlyn farmed his entire life with a passion for soil stewardship, beef cattle and was awarded the Minneapolis Star Tribune Conservation Farmer of the Year Honor. He attended Highland Elementary Grade School and was a Board of Trustee and Stewardship Committee member at First Lutheran Church of Highland. Erlyn is survived by two sons: Lyle Johnson of Rushford, Minn. and Dean E. (Avonelle) Johnson of Willmar, Minn.; one grandson, Jed (Laurie) Johnson of Rushford and one great-grandson, Dalton Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, at the First Lutheran Church of Highland with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel.
