Emory Gates Rine

WINONAEmory Gates Rine, 76, of Winona, MN, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at home after battling cancer for 14 years. Emory was born December 24th, 1936 in Cameron, WV to Mary Edna and Durward Rine.On June 22, 1963 he was united in marriage to Sherrie Northrup at Ridgeway United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Sherrie, of 50 years; children Judy Mayo of Winona, Holly Rine of Kansas City, MO, Kim (Trish) Rine of Winona, Sarah (Paul) Konkol of Denver, CO and four grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters Beulah Stevens of Walnut Creek, CA, Betty Turner and Marlene Bonar (special friend Elwood) of Moundsville, WV, Mary Lee Higby and Peggy Rine both of Cameron, WV, sister-in-law Darlene (Daryl) Lafky, Stockton and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, and mother and father-in-law Vera and Everett Northup, sister Judith Ann and four brother-in-laws, Chester Stevens, Jr., John Turner, Gibb Bonar and Jess Higby, one nephew, and his two beloved Schnauzers Buddy and Max.Growing up in Cameron, WV he loved to hunt and fish, and also played football during his high school years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1962 and in the Army Reserves through 1977. He retired after 35 years with the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 10.He found joy in gardening, flowers, hunting, fishing, bluegrass music and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.Family and friends are invited for a visitation at Hoff Celebration of Life Center on Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 12:00 - 2:00 with a service to be held from 2:00-3:00, luncheon will be served after the service. Burial will follow luncheon at Busch Cemetery, Ridgeway.
