HOUSTON, MINN. - Emma S. Olson, 84, of Houston, Minn. went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, November 26, 2004, after living at Valley View Nursing Home for many years. Emma Carlson was born on June 1, 1920, to Ed and Emma (Schmidt) Carlson. Her mother passed away three days after her birth. Anna (Auntie) Carlson lovingly cared for her. They lived 20 years on a farm in Money Creek, where Anna was a housekeeper for her cousin, Clarence Gustavson. Together they devotedly raised her. She graduated from Houston High School. She worked at the Village Inn in Houston. Emma enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking. She was a member of the Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Houston, teaching Sunday School and serving in the ladies group for many years. On October 20, 1945, she married Milo Olson in Houston. She is survived by two children: Juliann (John) Geiwitz and Michael (Debie) Olson both of Houston. Seven grandchildren, who she found great joy in: Rick Geiwitz Ron (Lori) Geiwitz, Ryan (Amy) Geiwitz, Bethany Olson, Naomi Olson, Heath Olson and Rachel Olson; six great-grandchildren: Heather, Matthew, Ethan, Evan, Emma and Tanner Geiwitz; and one brother, Donald Carlson of Houston. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Allen and Harry Carlson. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, at the Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Houston with the Rev. T. Wayne Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Hokah, Minn. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Please share a memory of Emma at on this sight
