WINONAElva Louise Rogers, 85 of Winona, passed on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Lake Winona Manor while holding hands with her daughter, Marilyn.Elva was born on October 31, 1927 in Hamilton, Bermuda to Cyril and Elva (Mitchell) Kemp. She was introduced to Clifford Rogers while he was serving overseas, and they were united in marriage on November 7, 1953 in New York City. As newlyweds, Elva and Clifford lived in many states and enjoyed traveling together. She was feisty, honest, and put the needs of others before her own. Elva enjoyed bowling, camping at Money Creek, crocheting, and knitting. Elva lived at Watkins Manor and loved playing 500, bingo, and going on trips with the other residents.Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn (Joel) Bjorlo of Winona and Doreen Ousji of Reston, VA; sisters, Elizabeth (Randy) Morris of Bermuda and Diana (Ross) Doe of Bermuda and their families; grandchildren, Lynn (Joel) Finlayson, Duane (Chanel) Bjorlo, Terri Madden, and Beau Braxton; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Clifford; step-father, Wilfred Palmer; many aunts, uncles and cousins.The family prefers memorials be directed to Watkins Manor, Winona Area Hospice, Lake Winona Manor, or Central Lutheran Church.Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with visitation one hour prior. Reverend Michelle Rem of Central Lutheran Church will officiate.
