Eloise Joy (Ballard Peterson) Tjernagel, 81 of Lewiston, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.Eloise was born May 1, 1933 in St. Thomas, ND to Edward and Marg (Ganssle) Redmann. She graduated from Bethany Lutheran High School and College and on December 19, 1951, was united in marriage with Lester Ballard. Together they had four children. They later divorced and she married Allen Peterson on July 21, 1979; Al died in 2006. Following Al's death, Eloise was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Sven Tjernagel and they were married on January 29, 2011; enjoying 3 ½ wonderful years of marriage. Eloise was a faithful member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and its DORCAS Society. She worked at Camera Art, Riverside and Pete's Meats. Eloise enjoyed traveling, riding four wheeler in the valley, playing cards, bridge, bingo and usually winning.She is survived by her husband, Sven; her children, Greg Ballard of Lewiston, Brad (Sherri) Ballard of Winona, Sheri (Bob) Lundstrom of Plymouth and Gary (Angela) Ballard of Pilot Point, TX; step-children, Alan "Ron" (Michelle) Peterson, Kenneth (Karin) Peterson, Larry (Cindy) Peterson and Robert "Bob" (Dorothea "Dodie") Peterson all of Lewiston, Steven (Robin) Tjernagel, Lauritz Tjernagel-Bravo and Susan (Robert) Ambrose; grandchildren, Allen (Debbie) Kronebusch, Joe (Tanya) Ballard, Amy (Chris) Bischof, Andrea (Andrew) Wright, Jennifer (Aaron) Locke, Eric Lundstrom, Amalia and Victoria Ballard, David (Jen) Peterson, Brandy (Adam) McDonald, Hunter Peterson, Krista (Ryan Jansen) Peterson, Keri (Chaun) Wahlund, Travis (Nicole) Peterson, Tyler (Ashley) Peterson, Trisha (Eric) Schultz, Leah (Loren Kreidermacher) Peterson, Kayla Peterson, Brandon Krogh and Travis Krogh; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Lowell (Lois) Redmann of Yuma, AZ, Carol (Don) Dupras of Surprise, AZ, Grace Reichart of Lynchburg, VA and Sharon Redmann of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and many nieces and nephews.Eloise was preceded in death by her first and second husbands.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. John's Ev.
