Eyota, Elmer F. Rupprecht, 81, of Eyota and a former longtime St. Charles area farmer died Sunday evening April 20, 2003 at his home in Eyota. Elmer was born October 11, 1921 in Winona County to Ben and Lucy (Luehmann) Rupprecht. He attended rural schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1939. Elmer served in the Marines from 1943-1945, stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. Elmer and Lucille M. Cole were married on September 18, 1948. They farmed in rural St. Charles for many years. In 2001 they moved to Rochester and to Eyota in 2002. Elmer belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. He was active in American Legion Post #190 of St. Charles, and was a past-commander. He was also a past-commander of St. Charles Veterans of Foreign Wars. Elmer served on many boards including the Winona County Planning and Zoning, Saratoga Cemetery Board as Treasurer, St. Charles Creamery Board, and the Consolidated Breeders/ Midwest Breeders Board of Directors. He was a 4-H Leader for many years. Survivors include his wife Lucille; two daughters Marlys (Rick) Wollschlager of Madison, MN; Marian (Kevin) Arndt of Winnebago, a son Marty (Kristi) Rupprecht of West Union, IA, 8 grandchildren, one sister Mabel Braun of Minnesota City, two brothers, Hilbert Rupprecht of Lewiston and Roger Rupprecht of Westport, OR. An infant daughter Louis Marie, a grandson Jon Wollschlager and a brother Kenneth Rupprecht preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Thursday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel. Friends may also call one hour before services at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Matthew Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
