Ellen R. Olson, 90, of rural Utica died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St. Anne' Extended Healthcare in Winona. Ellen was born February 19, 1927 in Cedar Valley to Palmer and Alma (Sebo) Erickson. She graduated from Winona High and married James Olson in Winona on December 14, 1946. They made their home near Fremont, as Ellen worked with James running their farm. She enjoyed her big garden, canning and freezing its' bounty. She also enjoyed baking and cooking, as she loved to feed her family and friends. Ellen was a leader of the Lewiston Cancer Support group. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church - Lewiston, serving as a deacon and in Church Circle. A current member of Utica Presbyterian Church. She was also involved with the Fremont Sunshine Club, Birthday Club, Red Hat Ladies and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include a daughter Mary Sue (David) Kreidermacher of Utica, a son Jim (Beth) Olson of Lewiston, five grandchildren, Kelly (Bob) Brooke; Brad (Cari) Kreidermacher; Todd Kreidermacher; Trent (Kristin) Olson and Katie Olson, great-grandchildren, Madison and Coleman Brooke; Jordyn and Hayden Kreidermacher and Aubrey Kreidermacher, and sister-in-laws, Dorothy Edwards and Audrey Olson. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2013, a sister, Pearl Gappa, in-laws; Gene Gappa; Helen Baer; Gladys and John Bain; Irvin and Margaret Baer; Clarence Edwards and Robert Olson.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30th at St. Paul's U.C.C/ E.L.C.A in Lewiston, with the Reverend Tim Gerarden officiating. Burial will follow in Fremont Scotch Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in Lewiston. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
