Ellen J. Wollin

October 25, 1925 — September 26, 2006

Ellen J. Wollin, 80 of Winona, has met her maker on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006. She now rests in peace. Many friends and family members had been at her side during her brief stay at Winona Community Memorial Hospital and Lake Winona Manor. She was born October 25, 1925 on Wollin's Bethany homestead to Otto and Emma (Schwager) Wollin, the youngest of five siblings. Ellen spent most of her life on the Bethany farm with her brother Hilbert and sister, Alma. She has resided at a Home and Community Options (HCO) home in Winona since 1997, where she has cultivated many precious friendships. Ellen was adored by her housemates, Melissa and Darlene and the HCO staff. Ellen was a lovable individual, known for her quick wit and warm heart. She enjoyed music, playing cards and her cat "Tinkiebell". She was a faithful Moravian all of her life. Ellen loved children, always remembering their birthdays and going on outings with her dear friend Kateri Mueller. Survivors include a brother Hilbert Wollin and a sister Alma Wollin both of Speltz Homes Plus in Lewiston, her guardian and niece Janet Burns, cousins, nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, an older brother, Teddy, two sisters, Emilie (Herman) Schultz and Meta (Lawrence) Lewis and a niece Joanne (Tony) Speltz. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at Our Savior Moravian Church in Altura with the Rev. David Sobek officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Moravian Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church. Hoff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Please share a memory of Ellen on her on-line Guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com.
