Houston, MNElizabeth Jane Benson, 94 of Houston, died, Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Gundersen-Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse.She was born November 6, 1915 in Appleton, WI to Richard and Ella (Clack) Watson. She graduated from Appleton High School and attended University of Wisconsin-Stout where she received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1938. After graduation she taught at various schools in Wisconsin and Colorado as well as Houston. While teaching in Houston, she met Hollis Benson and they were married on February 17, 1950. They farmed in Paradise Valley and had two children, Allan and Levella. They owned Benson's IGA from 1968-1973 and she worked at Skifton's from 1973-1985. Elizabeth enjoyed reading and knitting and crocheting sweaters, blankets and afghans for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Houston Baptist Church and was very involved in all of their activities.She is survived by a daughter, Levella (David) Rostvold of St. Charles; daughter-in-law, Barbara Burroughs of Houston; seven grandchildren, Kari, Amber, Brooke, Michelle, Melissa, Michael and Melanie; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Watson of Colorado and Mary Watson of Michigan.She was preceded in death by her husband Hollis in 1998; sister, Peggy Hogland; brother, Richard Watson.Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 20 at Houston Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Range officiating. Burial will follow at Swede Bottom Cemetery.
