St. Charles, Eleanor Belle Oredson, 93, of St. Charles died Tuesday December 4, 2007 at her daughter's home in Rochester. Eleanor was born August 8, 1914 in Rodman, Iowa to Leslie and Bessie (Pauley) Smith. She was raised near Sanborn, MN. On September 26, 1932 Eleanor married Dennis Samuel Oredson in Yankton, SD. The couple farmed in LaSalle, Chatfield and Dover, before retiring to St. Charles in 1974. Dennis died in 1974. She worked as a cook at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles for many years. Eleanor enjoyed sewing and traveled extensively. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles and was active in the Ladies Aid. She had also been active in homemakers and 4-H. Survivors include five children; Elaine (Lee) Villeneuve of Menomonie, WI, Denise (Willard) Nisbit of Rochester, Dwight Oredson (Janese Bantley) of Rochester, Kent (Mary) Oredson of McIntire, IA, and Laurel (Warren) Budd of Rochester, 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and three step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Rodney Nisbit, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
