Eldon DeGarmo, 84 of Kellogg formerly of St. Charles, MN and Phillips and Ladysmith, WI, died peacefully, Monday, October 31, 2011 at his home.Eldon was born September 24, 1927 in Ladysmith, WI to Donald True and Marguerite Pearl (Dahlke) DeGarmo. He graduated from Phillips High School and entered the Navy. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 - 1974 where he was active for 20 years serving in WWII and Korea as a photographer. He achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer E6 and also served 10 years on the reserves. After retiring from the Navy, he farmed, attended Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minneapolis and worked as a Manufacturing Engineer. He lived in St. Charles for 6 years before moving to Kellogg where he lived for the last 10 years. Eldon was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association, US Navy Photographers Association and the Mariner Armada. Eldon enjoyed photography, fishing, gardening, farming, attending auctions and spending time with his family.He is survived by his children, Ann (Duane) Carlson of Coon Rapids, MN, Rebecca West of DeKalb, IL, Michelle (Doug) Pfau of Elgin, IL, Mark DeGarmo of Ariel, WA, Jennifer (Bernard) Kraimer of Prentice, WI and Judith (Anthony) Neumann of Prentice, WI; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Loren DeGarmo of Fort Atkenson, WI; sisters, Florence Glazier of Sanford, FL, Doris DeGarmo of Klamath Falls, OR and Patricia (Robert) Price of Sherman, TX.Eldon is preceded in death by two wives, Virgina and Ellen Maxine; parents; brother, Raymond DeGarmo; sister, Judith Sokolowski and grandson, Andrew Pfau.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 4 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend David Preuss officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
