Elaine M. Colvin, 86, of Eyota died Tuesday at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles. Elaine was born April 5, 1932 in St. Charles to Edward and Leola (Hansen) Diderrich. Her family lived in several area towns, following her dad's construction work. Elaine met Frank Colvin while he was on leave from the Navy. They married November 5, 1949. They made their home in Rochester before moving to North Dakota where Frank worked on construction of the Garrison Dam. They later returned to Rochester before moving to St. Charles in 1954. Elaine worked at Woolworths in Rochester, Home Produce and Red Owl in St. Charles. In 1973 she suffered an aneurism. Over the next few years she worked hard to regain her health. She accepted what she was given; never angry, always kind. Following the aneurism Elaine and Frank moved to Eyota. She enjoyed collecting Gold Bond Stamps, playing cards, and riding motorcycle with Frank. They took many motorcycle trips throughout North America; west and east coast, north and south. Elaine and Frank enjoyed the Harley Davidson rally in Sturgis, South Dakota for 49 years. She also enjoyed many Sunday rides.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Frank, three children; Cheryl (Paul) Halvorson of Peterson, Gary Colvin and Steve (Julie) Colvin both of St. Charles, six grandchildren; Matthew, Katherine, Brian (Keri), Shannon, Brittany (Matt) and Ben (McKenzie), four great-grandchildren; Brecken, Grayson, Alyssa and Ella, and a brother Irvin Diderrich of Viola.
