Edythe L. Larimer

July 4, 1935 — March 1, 2021

Edythe L. Larimer, "Edie", 85 of Winona, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at her home. Edie was born on July 4, 1935, to Louis and Ada (Chandler) Henry in Ponsford, MN, where she was raised until the age of 14. In 1949, the family moved to Winona, and then her parents with their 8 children moved to Bremerhaven, Germany. While abroad, Edie attended a military high school and later a technical school, earning her accounting degree. After returning to the Winona area in 1953, she met Lawrence Oevering, and they were married on December 26 of that year. They were later divorced.
Edie had many jobs over the years, but her favorite position was at TRW in the accounting department, where she worked for 31 years. She finally retired in 2004, but "you can't keep a good girl down." Edie started working with Lutheran Senior Group, where she got to visit and help other individuals go to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, etc. Edie made many new friends volunteering; in fact, she had so many friends they were all family members to her children. Edie always welcomed many visitors at her home in Goodview. She loved to cook, bowl, and hear her girls sing. She loved watching ball games, whether it be her sons or grandchildren playing. Edie also enjoyed playing card games with her friends and family.
Edie was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Winona Elks Lodge #327, where she was a great volunteer and Exalted Ruler from 2010-2011.
Edie is survived by her 5 children, whom she loved more than anything, Marji (Bill), Sandy, Peggy (Russ), Larry Jr. (Ann), and Patrick (Andrea); 12 grandchildren, Kristi, Tony, JennaMarie, ShannaRai, Nastassjia (Mimi), April, Amanda, Kayla, Alyssa, Benjamin, Olivia, and Levi; 15 great-grandchildren, Preston, Tyler, Nolan, Brayden, Mikaila, Mason, Dyami, Alayja, Bryce, Cameron, Parker, Graydon, Beckett, Landon, and Brynlee; siblings, Bonnie, Lee, Michael, and Maureen; and many nieces and nephews.
In death, she joins her parents and siblings, Hank, Jim, and Lill.
A celebration of Edie's life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2021, at Cornerstone Community Church, 1004 44th Ave., Winona, MN, led by Funeral Celebrant Dianne Rislow. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Thursday, March 4, and 9-10 a.m., Friday, at the church. Masks and social distancing are required. Please leave a memory of Edie and sign her online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com. Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
Edie will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Her hope is that all are able to celebrate and have fun during this celebration. After all, she liked having a party.
