Houston, MNEdward L. Kingsley, 61, died Friday, January 9, 2009, at his home in Houston, MN. Ed was born September 26, 1947, in Winona, MN, to Louis and Helen (Gielow) Kingsley. Ed graduated from Rushford High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Ed worked as a lab technician for Fibrite in Winona, MN. Ed had a passion for helping people. He was the founder of the Sunrise Center in Spring Grove, MN and was very active in the Aliveness Project, an AIDS awareness program. He also enjoyed raising animals on his farm in Muhle Coulee, especially goats. He was a member of Money Creek Methodist Church.Survivors include his life partner, Mark Ray; son, Chase Kingsley of Rushford, MN; daughter, Chellie (David) Schaffer of New York; grandchildren; Dalton and Cody; mother, Helen Kingsley of Rushford, MN; brothers, Roger (Mary) of Vinegar Hill; Ronald of LaCrosse, WI, and Randy of Vinegar Hill; brother-in-law, Leon Helleland of Rushford, MN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis, sister, Cheryl Helleland, brother, Ray Kingsley and nephew, Brandon Kingsley.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 7:00pm at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel with Jim Strom and Rev. John Carrier officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Money Creek Cemetery.
