RUSHFORD, MINN. - Edward G. Heyer, 68, of Rushford died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at Gundersen - Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis. He was born on June 19, 1936, in New Hartford township of Winona County to William and Martha (Frauenkron) Heyer. Ed was raised in New Hartford and attended New Hartford School. On February 12, 1956, He married Arlene Pruka in Nodine, Minn. Ed farmed in Wiscoy Valley in Winona County starting in 1962. In addition to working as a farmer Ed was also in the construction business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, toy tractor collecting, snowmobiling and camping with friends and family. In 1994 Ed's wife Arlene preceded him in death. He married Nancy Dennis in 1999. He is survived by his wife Nancy; three sons: Edward (Ramona) Heyer, Rodney (Kathryn) Heyer and Merlin Heyer all of Rushford; two daughters: Kathleen (Thomas) Fabian of Winona and Kristi (Chad) Brandes of Rollingstone, Minn.; twelve grandchildren: Jared, Jessi, Kimberly, Cammy, Bradley, Justin, Phillip, Tyler, Travis, Tanner, Tina, and Nathaniel; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers: William (Dona) Heyer of Belvidere, Ill., Donald (Roberta) Heyer of Dakota, Minn. and Marvin (Irene) Heyer of LaCrescent, Minn.; four sisters: Anna Wenzel of Rushford, Gladys Schmitz of LaCrescent, Minn., Laura (Sidney) Rostad of Houston, Minn. and Alice Gady of LaCrescent, Minn. and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife Arlene, Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Margy and one sister Wilma Halverson. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2005, at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the Hiler Cemetery in Nodine, Minn. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Eagles Cancer Telethon in memory of his first wife Arlene or to Rushford Lutheran Church.
