ST. CHARLESDuane "Dewey" O. Stennes, 79, of St. Charles died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Diamond Rehab and Living in Cannon Falls, MNDewey was born April 21, 1936 to Earl and Wilma (Thorson) Stennes in Decorah, IA. He graduated from Mabel High School in 1955. He continued his education at Dunwoody Institute where he studied tool and die. On May 2, 1959 he married Carol J. Mason in Rochester. Together they raised two daughters, Dawn and Lori.Dewey worked for many years as a supervisor of streets for the city of St. Charles. He was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge and belonged to the Eagle's Club, Redman's Club in Winona, and worked as a part time policeman. Some of Dewey's favorite activities included riding his Honda motorcycle, going for car rides, camping in Mabel, and even had the opportunity to travel to 49 states, including Alaska, with Carol. Dewey was known to be a family man with a big heart. His caring, loving, and joking personality will be dearly missed and not easily forgotten.Dewey is survived by his wife, Carol of 56 years; daughters, Dawn (Kent) Glover of St. Charles and Lori Stennes of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) Glover, Jeret Glover, Cody Duane Glover, and Jesse (Katherine) Jonsgaard; 8 great-grandchildren, Bailee, Emmilyn, Zack, Zoey, Beau, Gavin, Emma Rose, and Emmitt Duane; sister, Patricia (Tom) Walker; sister-in-law, Claudia Henry; brother-in-law, Glen (Sharon) Mason; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Charles Henry.Funeral services for Dewey will be held 11a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Charles United Methodist Church with the Reverend Heather E. Klason officiating. Visitation will take place 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles and one hour prior to the service at the church. Dewey will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
