Duane Bernard Kubis, 85 of Winona, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
Duane was born August 8, 1932 in Arcadia to Bernard and Anna (Woychick) Kubis. His mother died during child birth and he was raised by his grandmother, Mary Kubis. Duane served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 14, 1958, he married Lois Speltz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winona. Duane delivered beer for 30 years. Following retirement, he began working part-time at Merchants bank at the age of 65; finally retiring at the age of 85.
Duane loved to watch dirt track racing with his boys, especially every Friday night in Fountain City. His family meant the world to him and time with his two granddaughters was something he treasured; there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons, Terry and Mike (Kim); two granddaughters, Olivia and Savannah; brother, Roger Kubis and nieces and nephews.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Mary Kubis; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kubis and nephew, Jason Roffler.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Casimir Catholic Church with the Reverend Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview and one hour prior to Mass at church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
