Duane Johnson

St. Charles,     Duane L. Johnson, 66, of Dover died Wednesday April 23rd at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul. He has been ill since November.     Duane was born May 12, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa to Roy and Dorothy (Krukow) Johnson. He grew up on a farm near Spencer, later moving to Minnesota where he graduated from Pine Island High School in 1954. Duane served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. He and Edwina Brunkow were married April 19, 1958. They made their home in Dover since 1962. He worked 31 years as a long haul semi-truck driver, and later did excavating work.      Duane enjoyed fishing with family. He was a very active 31 year member of Dover Volunteer Fire Department. He also belonged to Dover United Methodist Church.     Survivors include his wife Edwina, four children; Robert Johnson of Boise, Idaho, Deborah Reimers of Chatfield, Patricia (Larry) Esser of Rochester, and Sandra (Robert) Ihrke of Dover, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his mother Dorothy Johnson of Cambridge, five brothers and sisters; Doris (Earl) Senn of Trout Dale, OR, Joyce Smith of Spencer, IA, Dennis (Liz) Johnson of Milwaukee, OR, Roger Johnson of Cambridge, and Marjorie (Ray) Wataja of Marella, CA. He was preceded in death by his son Duane, three grandchildren and his father.     Funeral Services will be 2 PM Saturday at Dover United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
