WINONADuane John Waadevig, 50 of Winona, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Winona Health with his mom by his side.Duane was born August 11, 1965 in Winona to Bennie and Grace (McNally) Waadevig. As a child, Duane attended Sunday school and often said, "Life is not always fair, but God is good." Duane graduated from St. Charles High School and was involved with FFA. In 2002, he moved into an HCO residence in Winona and was able to live independently with their help. From his singing, two-step, and smiling, Duane's contagious energy will be missed by many. Polite, kindhearted, charming, and confident are only a few words to describe Duane, who was always ready for a party. One of his proudest moments was being selected as a member of the Home and Community Options Board of Directors in 2003 until graciously stepping down in 2007. Duane was also an emcee at several HCO plays, often charming the audience. He worked at the ORC for 27 years in several different positions until his retirement in 2013. Then, he moved into Benedictine Adult Day Center where he enjoyed many fun activities.He is survived by his mother, Grace Waadevig of Winona and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Duane was preceded in death by his father, Bennie; paternal and maternal grandparents; and aunts and uncles.Funeral service will be held at 2pm, Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview led by Funeral Celebrant Tyler Hoff.
