Douglas Smith

St. Charles, Douglas W. Smith, 42, of St. Charles died Saturday October 9th in a motorcycle/ tractor accident on US Highway 14, west of Lewiston. Doug was born September 12, 1962 in Ottumwa, IA to Darrel W. Smith Sr. and Joanne (Fairchild) Smith. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1980. On March 12, 1986 he and Lori Davis were married in Ottumwa where they made their home. Doug worked for Bointnott Enterprises in Ottumwa. He and his family moved to St. Charles in 2000. He worked at Strongwell, Inc. of Chatfield in pre-assembly. Doug enjoyed riding motorcycle, especially for benefit rides. He enjoyed his Huskies and had a love for wolves. Survivors include his wife Lori, two daughters, Leona and Jessica, both at home, his mother Joanne (Jim) Stivers of Ottumwa, IA, a brother Darrell (Kandy) W. Smith, Jr. of St. Charles and a sister Cynthia Aszman of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Memorial Services will be at 12 noon Saturday October 16, 2004 at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel with Pastor Trish Russell officiating. Friends may call from 11 AM until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial of Doug's cremated body will be in Bear Cemetery in Ottumwa. Services in Ottumwa will be announced at a later date.
