Douglas Henry Stiehm

Douglas Henry Stiehm, 93 of Rollingstone, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Doug was born February 18, 1919 in Rollingstone, to Louis F. and Alvina M. (Schuh) Stiehm. He graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School and attended St. Mary's University - Winona, pursuing a Major in History and Minor in Music. On April 16, 1955, he married Lorraine F. Cisewski in Winona. He owned and operated Stiehm Manufacturing Company until he began buying and fixing up old houses as rentals in Winona and in the twin cities. While in the twin cities, he continued his education at the Metropolitan University in Minneapolis and graduated with a major in History.He enjoyed music and came from a very musical family; he loved Big Band, Polka, Ragtime, playing the accordion and was truly talented on the piano. Doug is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Jane (Ron) Rusert of Lewiston, James of Rollingstone, and Richard of Winona; one grandson, Nathan Louis Clouse of Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Skyler & Keely Clouse; brothers-in-law, Jim (Lil) Cisewski of Albert Lea and Greg Opitz of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Wangsness; sister-in-law, Alice Opitz and nephew, Greg Cisewski.Funeral Mass will be 4 p.m., Friday, June 15 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Reverend Thomas Melvin officiating. Visitation will be 3 p.m., until the time of the service. Private family burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona.
