Dorothy Rothering passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on March 16, 1933, in Dodge, Wisconsin, to Ralph and Verna (Walsky) Moga.
She attended Pine Creek and Arcadia Schools. Dorothy was united in marriage to Marcel W. Rothering on August 18, 1952. The couple established their home on the farm in Fountain City, where they raised their four children. .
Dorothy was known for her warm heart and selflessness. She had a genuine passion for helping others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her kind-hearted nature was evident in the way she brought her family together through her love for cooking. Family gatherings were treasured moments, where her delicious meals fostered laughter and togetherness.
Among her many hobbies and interests, Dorothy particularly enjoyed playing Bingo and taking trips to Treasure Island Casino. She found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing each precious moment with them. Additionally, she had a green thumb and took pride in tending to her gardens.
Dorothy shared a special bond with her sisters, Irene and Joanne. They cherished their annual Christmas baking party, where they would come together and create delicious treats. Dorothy also loved playing cards, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and friendly competition.
As a homemaker and a resilient woman, Dorothy was the backbone of her family. Whether it was delivering homemade lunches to her children while they worked on various farm chores or ensuring that everything was running smoothly, Dorothy always rose to the occasion with unwavering strength and determination.
Dorothy Rothering leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children, Marc (Jean) Rothering, Theresa (Jeff) Walther, Robert (Laurie) Rothering, Barb (Joe) Pomeroy; grandchildren, Christopher Rothering, Jonathan Rothering, Jessica Walther, Jacob Walther, Ivory (Josh) Portz, Kerry (Derrick) Kneifl, Daryl Rothering, Joey Pomeroy, Emily Pomeroy; great-grandchildren, Abigail Hicks, Travis Hicks, Kolton Johnson; sisters, Irene Hermann, Joanne Kramer; and brother, James Moga, and her good friend and cousin, Ann Walsky.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Verna Moga; husband, Marcel; brothers Raphael, Frank, and Gabriel Moga.
Even though she has passed on, the memory of Dorothy's warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering love will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Watkins Manor as well as the staff at Winona Health ER for their care and kindness.
Funeral will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, MN at 11:30 a.m. A visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service, starting at 10:30 a.m. Dorothy will be interred at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, MN.
