St. Charles, Dorothy Pearl Mapes Morris, 86, of St. Charles died Monday morning April 28th at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. She was born November 25, 1916 in Viroqua, WI to William and Bessie (Kiser) Young and grew up in the Dallas, WI area. Dorothy and Harry George Mapes were married On October 22, 1938. They lived in Minocqua, WI until moving to Richland, WA in 1943. In 1950 they returned to Minocqua. Harry died in September of 1978. Dorothy married Darrold Morris in September of 1982. They lived in Venice, Florida until moving to St. Charles in 1994, to be near her daughter. Darrold died in 1996. She has lived in the Chosen Valley Care Center the past three years. Dorothy is survived by six children, Beth (Bill) Paulson of St. Charles; Sandra (Gary) Vogt of Lakeville; Philip (Colleen) Mapes of Chewelah, WA; Tamara (Roger) Grahl of Peace Tree City, GA; Ferris (Darla) Mapes of Dallas, TX; and Mark (Ann) Mapes of Minocqua, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, four sisters, Julia (Everett) Hansen of Chetek, WI; Charlotte (Paul) Tiegs of Dallas, WI; Lucille Brendel of Barron, WI; and Eileen (Bob) Scates of Barron, WI, three sisters-in-law, Alma Young of Pittsville, WI; Geneva Young of Prairie Farm, WI; and Violet Young of Chetek, WI. Two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Funeral Services will be 10 AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel with Craig Winquist officiating. Burial will follow at 2:45 PM in Glenwood Cemetery at Prairie Farm, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday and one hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
