Dorothy Helen Graskamp, 89, of Fountain, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Stewartville Care Center of cancer.
Dorothy was born April 3, 1924, in Cascade Township, rural Rochester to Edward A. and Daisy (Conley) Henke. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1942 and attended Hamline University for two years. Dorothy then worked for the City of Rochester. On Jan. 22, 1948, she married Loren Lee Graskamp in Fountain. Dorothy was the co-owner of a shop called, "Down Home" in Lanesboro for 25 years. Loren was a farmer and an insurance agent.
Dorothy managed the 4-H food stand at the Fillmore County Fair. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star and the United Methodist Women, both at local and district levels.
She enjoyed flower gardening , travel and her family.
She is survived by her husband, Loren Graskamp; three children, Linda (Daniel Morel) Hazel of Fountain, Daniel (Paula) Graskamp of Stewartville, and Edward Graskamp of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor Baumbach of Minneapolis., and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Graskamp, a sister, Gertrude Schwanke, a brother, John Henke, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Chatfield United Methodist Church, with Pastor Beth Perez officiating. Burial will be in the Chatfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
