WINONAStudt, Dorothy Eleanor, 86, of 256 W. 5th Street in Winona, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Lake Winona Manor of natural causes.Dorothy was born on October 10, 1926 in Chicago to George and Gertrude (Kaiser) Studt. She was raised in Chicago with family ties to Winona dating back to the 1870s. Dorothy graduated from Austin High School in Chicago during WWII. She was married to Mr. Anderson in the late 1940s and later divorced. During the war, Dorothy worked for the Milwaukee Railroad in Chicago as a reservationist. She was later employed at Marshall Fields and retired as an executive in 1985, after over 33 years of service. After retiring, she moved back to Winona. For over 70 years, Dorothy was a professional entertainer, mainly focusing on the piano. She played in many clubs, performed on the radio, and various social events in the Chicago area. Dorothy was honored to also perform for the servicemen's clubs for the military. In 1999, she was united in marriage to Robert McLean in Torrington, WY, and he passed away the same year. From 2000 to 2012, she was a resident of Rapid City, SD and moved back to Winona last summer to live with her son, Ronald Studt. In addition to her musical interests, Dorothy was a talented speller and competed at various Spelling Bees. She was very interested in traveling and had the opportunity to visit all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico.She is survived by her son, Ronald Studt of 256 W. 5th Street in Winona; and several cousins and their siblings. Dorothy was preceded in death by parents; sister, Georgene Studt in July 1945 at the age of 16; and her first and second husbands.Dorothy will be laid to rest at 10am on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona.Please share a memory of Dorothy and sign the online guestbook at
