Dorothy Edwards

Living life the way life is intended to be lived; fully, fairly and faithfully; Dorothy Mae Edwards is now at peace with her Lord, at the age of 97, on February 9, 2025, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN. Born on May 27, 1927, in Pine Creek, she was the beloved daughter of Edward and Edith Olson.

Dorothy was baptized at Rushford Lutheran Church, where her life of faith began, and she spent her childhood studying at Pine Creek School near Fremont through the eighth grade. On October 15, 1946, she united in marriage with Clarence Edwards at Lewiston Presbyterian Church, embarking on a partnership filled with love, laughter, and hard work on their family farm. Together, they raised five children, nurturing them with the same love and care that characterized her life.

Following Clarence's passing in 1977, Dorothy continued to embody strength and resilience. A dedicated member of both Lewiston and later Utica Presbyterian Churches, she actively participated in the ladies' circle and enjoyed playing church league softball for the "Utica Presbys." Dorothy was known for her unwavering support of the Green Bay Packers and found joy in playing cards, reading, birds, flowers, and embraced her Norwegian heritage with her lefse making.

Dorothy's involvement in her community was profound; she was a proud member of the Fremont Sunshine Club, the Fremont Birthday Club, a devoted 4-H Leader, Royal Neighbors, and Fremont Cemetery Board. Her life was a testament to her belief that "enjoying the little things in life... for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things."

Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her survivors, son, Jerry (Kathy) Edwards of St. Charles; grandson, Shane (Kelle) Edwards; and their children, Hannah, Claire and Zachariah (Maggie); granddaughter, Sara Edwards; and her son, Jacob (Nicole) Mathena; grandson, Layne (Betsi)) Edwards; and their children, Magnus and Charles; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cosby; and her children, Lydia, Conner, and Caleb; daughter, Jan (Roger) Beyer of rural Utica; granddaughter, Jill (Paul) Kieser; and their children, Annika and Jack; grandson, Brad (Kimberly) Beyer; and their children, Bryce, Bryn and Nolan; granddaughter, Emily (Chad) Wert; and their children, Brianna and Whitney; granddaughter, Brooke (Jon Reyerson); grandson Bo (Clair) Beyer; son, Tom (Irene Novak) Edwards of Utica; granddaughter, Rachel (Jess) Hessock; and their son, Lincoln; daughter, Cheryl (Randy) Kukowski of Lewiston; granddaughter, Kelsie (Ben) Simon; and their daughter, Hallie; granddaughter, Carter (Sam) Schaus; and their children, Jonah, Miriam, Joshua, and Naomi; grandson, Cole (Megan) Kukowski; and their son, Quincy; sister-in-law, Audrey Olson; and many dear nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edwards; her son, Steven; parents, Edward and Edith (Svenningson) Olson; three sisters, Helen Baer, Gladys Bain, Margaret Baer; and two brothers, James Olson and Robert Olson.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Fremont Church. She will be laid to rest at Fremont Cemetery.
