Dorothy E. Sanford

St. Charles, MN Dorothy E. Sanford, 86, of St. Charles, MN, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in St. Charles, MN. Dorothy was born October 29, 1922 at her home to Louis and Clara (Kohn) Meyers. On March 28, 1946 she married Verlen Sanford in Kasson, MN and for almost 50 years they farmed together on the Meyers family farm in rural Rochester, MN. Verlen passed away in October of 1991. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, spending winters in Texas, and putting puzzles together. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Dale (Cindy) Sanford of Kasson, MN; three daughters, Donna (Louis) Kieffer of St. Charles, MN; Jean Sanford of Austin, MN; and Darla (Kent) Grover of Winona, MN; eight grandchildren, Darin (Kimberly) Sanford of Stewartville, MN; Tara (Jason) Weishaar of Lakeville, MN; Adam Kieffer of Rochester, MN; Vicki (Dale) Gathje of St. Charles, MN; Chris (Keith) Miller of St. Charles, MN; Sue Saro Kieffer of Rochester, MN; and Chelsie Grover and Katie Grover both of Winona, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Delaney Sanford, Gracie Weishaar, Philip Saro, Tyler Saro, Erica Gathje, Katie Gathje, and Aaron Miller; and two brothers, Raymond (Mary) Meyers of Rochester, MN, and Melvin (Eileen) Meyers of Plainview, MN. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Verlen, daughter Sharon, two brothers and four sisters. The Funeral Service for Dorothy will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, March 2, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Utica, MN with Allen Hanson officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN. Friends may call from 10am-12pm on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Utica.
