Dorothy Ann Parsons, 87 of St. Charles, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Cottage Wood Assisted Living in Rochester.Dorothy was born May 23, 1926 in Alma, WI to Carl and Martha (Hornberg) Schroeder. She graduated from Winona High School in 1944 and on March 14, 1953, she married Lyle F. Parsons and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Dorothy and Lyle lived in Germany for two years while Lyle was in the Army. After returning from Germany, they purchased a farm and continued to farm for most of their lives. In 1995, Dorothy received the Commissioner Human Service Volunteer Award for excellence in Volunteer Service to Minnesota. In 1997 and 2005, she received the "Outstanding Senior Citizen" Award for Winona County. Dorothy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She and Lyle traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe and even made it to all 50 states except Hawaii.She is survived by her husband, Lyle; two sons, Donald (Tamra) of Spring Valley and Kenneth (Judy) of Panora, IA; two grandsons, Michael (Cassandra) of Rochester and Robert (Kandi) of Eagle River, AK; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Dalen; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edmund (Delores) Schroeder.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with the Reverend Larry La Dassor officiating. Burial will follow at Saratoga Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 -7 p.m., Wednesday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service and one hour prior to the service at church.
