Mrs. Dorothea A. (Novotny) Platteter passed on to her final reward on the 8th day of September 2007. A life long resident of Winona, she was the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Hammernik) Novotny. She resided for over fifty years at 111 ½ W. Third Street, prior to a five year stay at St. Anne of Winona.She is survived by her two sons, Joseph M. (Maria) Platteter of Oxnard, CA and Leo A. (Delores) Platteter of Cody, WY; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Winifred Block of Winona; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Mrs. Arnold) Platteter of Arcadia, WI and Zenita (Mrs. Leo B.) Platteter of Waumadee, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Platteter married her husband Albert J. on April 4, 1936 in Winona, MN. He later preceded her in death on October 23, 2002. Dorothea was quite active in her church, St. Joseph and later the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She was very active in many volunteer works around town and is lovingly remembered by all whom she knew and had contact with her. Along with her husband Albert, Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David and Francis.A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 11:00am at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with the Reverend Donald Lovas officiating, who is a life long friend of the family. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona.
