Doris Hedwig Streif

Doris Hedwig Streif passed away on April 12, 2024, in Rushford, Minnesota. She was born on November 17, 1931, in Rheinhausen, Germany, where her wonderful journey began. On October 3, 1952, Doris exchanged vows with her beloved Herbert Streif and together they established their lifelong home in Arlington Heights, Illinois, after immigrating to Chicago in 1953.

Doris was a woman of many talents and passions. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, and various forms of artistry. She found joy in the kitchen, indulging in baking, cooking, canning, and making the most delightful treats, including her famous Prinzregententorte. Her home, lovingly built by her husband Herbert, was the heart of her world where she nurtured her family and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Streif; her parents, Agnes and Bernhard Kneip; and her sister, Gisela Kneip. 

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Germaine (Dewey) Himlie; loving granddaughters, Bre (Mike) Schlick, Elizabeth Himlie, and Kirstin (Clinton) Augustin, and great grandson Hank Schlick.
