St. Charles, Doris L. Cole, 93, of St. Charles died Saturday May 13, 2006 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Doris was born Feb. 1, 1913 in Troy, MN to Charles and Maude (Burt) Perry, where her family had operated the Perry general store. She and Roy Cole were married June 19, 1932 in Utica. The couple farmed in Saratoga Township of Winona County for many years until moving to St. Charles in 1959. They moved to Dover in 1974. Roy died May 1, 1986 and Doris later returned to St. Charles. She was a homemaker and had worked at Plainview Packing Plant and cleaned at the St. Charles Library and St. Charles Municipal Liquor Store. She had been a member of the St. Charles United Church of Christ and was now a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Doris had volunteered as a 4-H Leader for many years and she was a member of the Sinshine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and Roy enjoyed wintering in Texas beginning in the early 1970s. She continued to winter there following Roy's death until the early 1990s. Survivors include a daughter Shirley (Fred "Butch") Carlson of Elba, three grandsons, Monte Bothun of Spring Grove; Wayne Bothun of Rochester and Terry Bothun of Eyota, five great-grandchildren and a sister Lucille Eide of Chatfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Donna, a brother Chalmer Perry, foster daughter Jane Cisewski and Patrick Cieminski, who had lived with the family. Funeral Services will be 11AM Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery in rural St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
