Doris Mildred Johnson, 91, of rural St. Charles died Tuesday evening January 7th at her home. She was born February 27, 1922 in Winona County to Lewis and Mabel (Cocker) Palmer. Doris graduated from St. Charles High School in 1940 as valedictorian of her class. She worked at various jobs after high school and married Delvin Ruhberg on June 20, 1944. To them three children were born: James Ruhberg, Robert Ruhberg, and Carol Ruhberg. In 1952 Doris and Del purchased Del's Café and operated it many years until Del passed away in 1973.She later married Emery Johnson on November 15, 1975. They farmed and operated Del's Café for many years until leasing it in 1997. She was a member and former treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Women of the Moose and also a member of the Chatfield Lutheran Church.Survivors include her husband Emery, a son James (Sharon) Ruhberg of St. Charles, a daughter Carol Ruhberg, Johnson (Wayne) Carrigan, a daughter-in-law Jennifer Ruhberg of California and step children John (Doris) Johnson and Julie Johnson. Eight grandchildren, Three step grandchildren and Fourteen great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her first husband Del, a son Robert, a grandson David and a great granddaughter Sarah.Funeral Services will be at 11 AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Mark Docken of Chatfield Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery. A reception will be held at the funeral home following services. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday and 10-11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
