Doris Fabian

Doris C. Fabian, 79, of St. Charles died Monday February 13, 2006 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Doris was born September 9, 1926 in Saratoga Township of Winona County to Ernest and Sarah (Thompson) Nichols and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1945. Doris and Maurice Fabian were married on January 7, 1949 in St. Charles. She was a homemaker, also working as a bartender at Frank's in St. Charles and Shattuck's in Utica, later working as a waitress at Travelers Café and Cottage Inn in St. Charles. For many years Doris was the Post-Bulletin carrier manager for St. Charles. Together with her husband she enjoyed playing 500, watching Twins games and camping. Maurice died December 12, 2005. Doris belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Survivors include eight children, Shirley (Michael) Eide of Stockton; Robert and Richard both of St. Charles; Wesley (Heidi) of Hereford, AZ; Pamela (Stephen) Holty of Rochester; Cindy (Douglas) Schommer of St. Charles; Brian of St. Charles and Tammy Broers of Phoenix, AZ, five grandchildren; Priscilla, Melissa, Shane, Michael and Stefanie, five great-grandchildren, Genie, Nicole, Evan, Kristiana and Olivia, a brother Everett Nichols of Saratoga and a sister Delores (Ray) Leeper of Arizona City, AZ. In addition to her husband Doris was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Hermanson and Blanche Eversman. Funeral Services will be 11AM Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
