Doris Elizabeth Lawrenz, 84, of Rochester and formerly of St. Charles, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Doris was born July 28, 1927 in Rushford to Ole and Inga (Laugen) Laumb. On June 1, 1945 Doris and Edward Lawrenz were married in Lewiston. They made their home in St. Charles where Doris worked for Home Produce, the Cottage Inn, Kramer's Dry Goods and was a Day Care Provider. Edward died in 1976. Doris later moved to Rochester to nanny. She was the 'Pizza Lady' at Hy-Vee, enjoying all of her visits with customers. Doris loved to care for young children. She had a keen wit and a nice smile. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester and was a Gold Star Mother in the St. Charles American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her three children; Lyle (Beverly) Lawrenz of Eyota, Sue (Jeff) Thisius of Rochester and Barbie (Kevin) Mundt of St. Charles, seven grandchildren; Heather, Hilary, Heath, Trevor, Racquel, Malory and Tyler, seven great-grandchildren; Ridley, Isabelle, Mason, Coy, Myranda, Ava and Reese with an 8th great-grandchild arriving in July and step-grandchildren, Robyn and Blake. She is also survived by her many day-care children who called her 'Grandma Doris'. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her son Darol, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services to Celebrate Doris' life will be 11AM Thursday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Anjanette Bandel of Bethel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 5-8PM Wednesday and one hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home.
