Dora Kammer, of Chatfield, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Dora was born May 13, 1926 in rural Fountain to Baldwin and Effa (Strom) Skrukrud. She attend schools in Chatfield and graduated from Chatfield High School. She then married Donald W. Kammer on July 12, 1948 at Chatfield Lutheran Church.
Dora was active in her church, Chatfield Lutheran Church serving in WELCA, the Choir, and teaching sunday school. She enjoyed music, reading, baking, spending time outdoors, and volunteering in the Chatfield Public Schools. She was also fond of quilting, baking lefsa, and other Norwegian goodies for the church bazaar. Her grandchildren were the bright stars of her life. She loved to attend many of her grandchildren's activities.
Survivors include two children, Mark (Suzan) Kammer of Eden Prairie & Eric (Patricia) Kammer of Chatfield. Three grandchildren also survive: Alisha Kammer (Ryan) Johander, of Savage, and Erin & Madalyn, of Chatfield.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald on April 10, 1993 and three brothers Norman, Clifton, and Lester.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Dora will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 18 at Chatfield Lutheran Church in Chatfield with Pastor Mark Docken officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow the service at Chatfield Cemetery.
