Donna Mae Daywitt, 85, formerly of St. Charles died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester. Donna was born June 20, 1933 in Quincy Township of Olmsted County to Alvin and Alma (Berg) Bluhm. Donna graduated as valedictorian from Dover School. She and Francis "Shorty" Daywitt were married August 2, 1952 in Rochester. They lived in Eyota before making their home in Dover for many years. Shorty died in 2000 and Donna later moved to St. Charles.
She worked for Holiday Inn South in Rochester as a waitress for many years, retiring in 1999.
Donna is survived by her four children; Paul (Sonia) Daywitt of Wellington, CO, Sue (Bernie) Ellis of St. Charles, Karen (Neil) Applen of Rochester and Barbara (Michael) Johnson of Lake City, six grandchildren; Aaron Daywitt, Bruce (Paula) Applen, Marsha Applen (Ernest), Kenneth Daywitt, Amanda Johnson and Katie Johnson, five great-grandchildren; Shawn (Brittany), Izayah, Autumn and Ethan Brionah, one great-great- granddaughter, Zayla, a sister, Sharon (Robert) Ellefson of Rochester and a brother Bruce Bluhm of Chatfield. In addition to her husband Shorty, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nadine Peck and Dorothy Kingsley.
Services for Donna will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Samuel Morsching of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home, with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester after the reception. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
