St. Charles, Donna Marie Fabian, 78, of St. Charles died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at her home in St. Charles surrounded by those she loved. Donna was born January 23, 1934 in Whalan to William and Agnes (Hilested) Greethurst. On August 7, 1953 she married Truman "Doc" Fabian in Winona and made their home in St. Charles. Donna did in-home daycare when her children were young, and in 1967 she began working as a cook in the kitchen of the St. Charles Schools. She served as head cook from 1974 until 1994, at which time she retired due to the physical challenges of living with Multiple Sclerosis. Donna enjoyed sewing doll clothes and clothes for her children, baking, cooking, embroidering, and attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. Donna and Doc enjoyed many days of camping, fishing, and 40-years of playing 500 and vacationing with their card club. Survivors include her husband Doc, three children; Sandy (Jim) Leisen of St. Charles, Randy (Sue) Fabian of New Lisbon, WI, Dawn (Fran) Rainey of St. Charles, eight grandchildren; Josh (Alanna), Mike (Lori), Tim, Keri, Elizabeth (Adam), Laura (Marshall), Amy, and Cody, three great-grandchildren; Ryan, Benjamin, and Madilyn, her step mother, Lida (Sandy Henry) Greethurst of Utica, two brothers, George Greethurst and William Myer, and a sister Vonda McAllister. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services to celebrate Donna's life will be held at 11AM Wednesday, August 29 at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, with Seasons Hospice Chaplain Lincoln Engelbert officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM Tuesday, August 28 or one hour before the funeral service on Wednesday.
