Donald J. Overland

Peterson, MNDonald J. Overland, 81, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Don was born June 8, 1925 in rural Peterson, MN to Johannes and Ella (Ness) Overland. He married Pauline Gjerdrum on October 2, 1954. She later died on December 3, 1969. Don married Sandra Zeller on August 24, 1973 in the Little Brown Church in Iowa. Don was a life long farmer in Lanesboro and Peterson, MN. He also started the Overland Inn in Whalan, MN and Aunt Lizzie's B&B in Lanesboro, MN. Don was a member of Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in Peterson, MN. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.Survivors include his wife, Sandra; six children, Cynthia (William) Grindland of Peterson, MN, Crystal (Robert) Heublein of St. Paul, MN, Susan (Ron) Strom of Eau Claire, WI, Martha (Ron) Stensgard of Rushford, MN, Erik (Laurie) Overland of Peterson, MN and Scott (Cheryl) Overland of Albert Lea, MN; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Harris (Beverly) Overland of Lanesboro, MN, John (Carol) Overland of Lanesboro, MN and Richard (Sherrill) Overland of San Angelo, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Pauline, sons, Bruce and Tim and sister, Doris. Funeral services are planned for Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church at 11:00am with the Rev. Wade Davick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
